Term 5

We welcomed our parents and grandparents to school today for our Family Learning Session. We started by practising our 10 times tables and then focused on science. We researched animal adaptations in a chosen world habitat and then created our own animals which could survive in that environment.

In science we researched world habitats and found some fascinating facts to share.

We used atlases to locate and name the seas around the United Kingdom.

We had a fabulous day at school celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We dressed up in clothes from the era, had a special school lunch and explored some amazing vintage vehicles and artefacts from World War 11.

Here are our moving sea monsters. The linkages help them to move. We are very pleased with them.

We looked at objects and how they move in DT. We  made linkages using paper and split pins. Next we will design and make our moving sea monsters.

In our topic lesson we focused on some of the key vocabulary that we will be using in our lessons.

Can you work out our story for this term from the clues in the gazebo?

There was a piece of string hanging from one side of the gazebo to the other with a basket hanging from it. On the floor there was a cushion and what looked like the remains of a picnic. We also spotted some white feathers...

Our challenge in Maths today was to find out how tall we are. We worked together using metre rulers.
