Victorian Day in Elm Class!

We had to follow certain rules such as hand inspections when coming into the classroom and standing when an adult entered the room. We also had a go at using chalk to write with and we drew our own hopscotch on the playground. We also had the opportunity to look at some Victorian coins brought in by a parent - we had some very interesting discussions about them!

We had a visitor come and show us about working in Antarctica...

Jaime has worked in Antarctica as a carpenter restoring Captain Scott's huts and belongings. He had many pictures and stories!

Some amazing homework projects in Maple finding out about links to WW2 in our families and communities

Sycamore ordered key events since the start of the universe, to create a huge timeline!

Maple made posters to show what they have learned about the Battle of Britain

Year 6 looked at photographs of the Dunkirk evacuation and thought about how useful photos are as a source of information about the past.

In year 3 we investigated different artefacts from the Bronze Age.

Year 1 have been learning about Victorian schools!

We enjoyed sorting pictures into a Venn diagram and we also got to examine some Victorian coins that a parent brought in!

Remembrance Day...

Making timelines in year 5 and ordering ancient Greek events.

KS2 were treated to a talk about exciting historic events happening in the local area.

Year 5 used pictures to look for clues about every day life in ancient Egypt

Willow Class had a visit from Liam who taught us about life as a soldier in World War 1. He also talked to us about the importance of the poppy as a symbol of Remembrance.

Year 3 and 4 were lucky enough to experience a World War 1 workshop, gaining insight into life during the war and also the reason behind Remembrance Day
