Summer Term

This term we learnt about living things and their habitats and went on a trip to Carymoor Environmental Centre. Here, we conducted pond surveys, where we searched for pond creatures in a net and then identified them. We found lots of water beetles, newts and even water scorpions! We used clues to solve riddles and investigated paw prints, feathers, droppings and fur to find out, 'Who killed the wood pigeon?'

In RE, we learnt about Islam. We also focused on Christian values, including trust. We trusted our friends by passing a ball and hoop whilst blindfolded.

We created different nets and matched them with their 3D shapes.

In Science, we learnt about forces: we created boats from recycled plastics to explore the effects of water resistance; we measured the force of gravity acting on different objects in the classroom with newton metres and dropped eggs from parachutes to explore air resistance.

We learnt about rivers and habitats, and bravely shared our opinions about dams in a class debate.
