Ash - Year 3
Welcome to Ash Class!
Welcome to Ash class, my name is Miss Norris and I am a newly qualified teacher and this will be my first teaching position.
Year three is part of Key stage 2 and the start of the junior section of our school. Our termly overview can be viewed by clicking the link below. The topic for this term is New Beginnings for the first five weeks and for the final fortnight we will have a focus on spirituality and reflection. This topic will allow me to get to know the children and there will be lots of science and history.
Most children will read in Ash class two or three times a week so the new home learning diary and reading books need to be kept in book bags for use daily. The home learning diary is also a useful way to communicate and there is a space for comments/concerns especially if your child uses the bus. The children will continue to access the Read Write Inc. spelling programme with a log book coming home to practice spellings. Some children can learn spellings quickly others need regular practise and your help on this will be much appreciated. Other home learning will be linked to maths or topics this year.
The children now go to lunch at 12.30 and fruit is not provided in KS2 so if your child needs a snack please send a piece of fruit in daily. The children play on the top playground and go back to being the little fish in the big pond. They can now attend more after school clubs and these will be published soon. Please respond quickly as there are only so many spaces. The children do get tired taking on the challenges of the KS2 curriculum and they can choose clubs each term so don't feel they have to do a club this term.
P.E will take place on Monday and Thursday with the sports coach. The children do need daps or trainers for outside P.E. which will take place all year round if the weather allows it. Swimming will probably resume next week so send kit daily then please. Mrs Pritchard will be taking the class for French on a Thursday morning when I have my planning, preparation and assessment time and Miss James will be teaching R.E in the afternoons.
I am looking forward to getting to know the children and parents of Ash Class and I hope we have a fun and enjoyable year!
