Spring Half Term 1

In Maths, we learnt about area and perimeter. We solved problems in lots of practical ways.

We also multiplied using the area model. This showed us how to multiply every digit.

As scientists, we made predictions, ran tests and wrote conclusions about the different properties of materials.

We grouped materials according to their properties that we tested the lesson before.

We had a debate, "Should the Parthenon Marbles return to Greece?" Everyone had different ideas!

We learnt about persuasive writing and letters. We had to write a letter to persuade school to return our chairs!

We performed the parable of the Good Samaritan. We thought about our school's Christian values.

We created vector drawings (from flowers to penguins to parrots).

For PE, we did gymnastics and hockey. We played matches and developed attacking and defending skills.

We have been learning about the ancient Greeks (children, adults and their homes, food, education).

We learnt about the bus stop method to divide 4 digit numbers by 2 digits. We also had to work out how many animals would go in different enclosures in 'Upton Noble Zoo', using methods for division.

We made fractions (up to sixteenths) by tearing up paper.

We experimented to see if different materials (gravy, coffee, sugar, flour, salt, chalk) were soluble or insoluble.

We sorted materials into their states of matter and acted as solids, liquids or gases.

We explored electrical conductivity (conductors and insulators).

For PSHE, we explored different goals and values.
