English task for this week

Watch the short film The Egyptian Pyramids on Literacy shed https://www.literacyshed.com/the-egyptian-pyramids.html.  It's the second film on the page so you'll need to scroll down (although the first one, Tadeo Jones, is also funny so feel free to watch that too!).

You need to do two tasks:

  1. Write a setting description for one part of the film.  It might be the beginning when the archaeologist is digging, or when he goes into the pyramid.  Remember to use all of your senses to help describe the scene.
  2. Write an entry in the archaeologist's diary for that day.  There are some examples of diary entries below for you to look at and remember the style.  You will need to be imaginative - think about what might have been happening to the archaeologist when he was inside the pyramid.

When you are writing, I would like to you focus on making sure your piece of writing flows well.  This is called text cohesion (cohesion means sticking together well).  There is a PowerPoint for you to look at below, and some word mats that you could use to help you.
