Spring Term 2019/20

On outdoor learning day we worked with Willow Class to make some sculptures from natural materials.

We really enjoyed working with Willow Class on our outdoor learning day. First we looked for places our butterflies could be camouflaged. Then we designed our own butterflies to camouflage around school.

We counted fungiform papillae (the pick bumps on our tongues where the tastes buds are) on each other's tongues, to find out whether we are supertasters.

We looked at different ways we could sort ourselves into groups according to characteristics. We used Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams.

In British Science Week, we investigated whether the biggest hand holds the most. We had to design our own investigations, make sure they were fair tests and find a way to present our findings.

During book week we had a West End in Schools dance workshop, based on the story of The Lorax.

We had a great time exploring traditional tales in book week. We focused on Hansel and Gretel, and had fun dressing as traditional tale characters on World Book Day

After we composed our pieces and tried to write them down using music notation, we practised and then performed them.

We've been improvising and composing our own music

We were extremely lucky to spend time with children's author Joffre White today. He gave us loads of great ideas for how to write stories, and we started our own stories. Mrs Baker can't wait to read them!

Today we designed algorithms and then tested them

We've been interviewing each other about a UFO sighting for our newspaper reports.

Some great art underway, inspired by our space topic

Look at some of our amazing work inspired by the book The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris

We're excited about practising our times tables on TT Rockstars!

We had lots of fun in science investigating which biscuits are best for dunking. Our results were that chocolate digestives are best for dunking in cold water but plain digestives are best in hot water.
