Phonics and Spelling
Year 1 please continue with online letters and sounds.
Below are the spellings for this week. The focus for Year 2 is words ending in tion Year 1 are looking at compound words. Please remember to practise your spellings daily,  just as we would at school. They are on Spelling Shed and it would be wonderful if we could get all three spelling groups into the top ten by the end of the week.
Reading Comprehension
The Year 2 reading comprehension paper can be completed in one sitting with a small break between the two texts or on two separate occassions. As before, please could you mark the paper and send me the scores. Thank you.
Monday - Today you are going to write the ending for your story. Before you begin to think about your story ending, you need to read your story through from the beginning, checking that it makes sense, that you have not missed out any key words or made any silly spelling mistakes. Once you have done that you can think about your story ending. You might want to watch the video clip one more time to remind yourself of the story.

How will you start this next part of your writing? What did the main character do?

Tara moved cautiously towards the small purple door. She had no idea what was on the other side but she was determined to find out. She knelt down and turned the handle, to her amazement the door opened....

What happened next? Think about how she felt when she went through the door. What did she see, what did she do.

What will the final sentence of your story be? Do not write THE END

Once you have finished your story, read it aloud to one of your parents. They can then tell you what they think of it and help you to make any changes that need to be made.

Tuesday - Today you are a book critic. You are going to write a review of Journey by Aaron Becker.
Wednesday - Our focus today is on postcards. Please read through the powerpoint below about postcards. You then need to look at the second powerpoint about postcards from the Titanic. Your task today is to plan a postcard as if you were a first class passenger on the Titanic.
Thursday - Write your postcard on the template below. Year 2 think carefully about your handwriting. If you know you should join your letters please join them when you write up your postcard.
Friday - Choose six of your spellings. Write an interesting sentence for each word.  Challenge - how many of the words can you get into one sentence?
