Spring 2020

What better way to learn about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores than by dissecting some 'poo' and matching it to the appropriate animal.

After a whole school dance, we embraced Sports Relief by joining in with a huge range of sports from yoga to crab football.

We have had a phenomenal morning learning outdoors with Ash Class. We made water filters, collected foliage to make clay tiles and used hammers to print flowers onto a table cloth.

We have been 'Working Scientifically' all week as part of Science Week. We have been colour mixing using bread, hand washing whilst discussing health and hygiene, making holes in ice using salt, exploring forces and making boats that float.

Happy World Book Day!

We shared books with our buddies.

Bringing books to life with: 'Where the Wild Thngs Are.'

Autumn 2019

A very warm welcome to Acorn Class. Our topic for the Autumn Term is: 'Going Places.' Please see our Topic Booklet, Topic Web and Medium Term Plan below. Please note that planning is subject to change depending on the children and their interests. Please visit this page regularly to access letters and to see what we have been learning.

We welcomed a very special visitor during our Christmas party before tucking into delicious party food with our friends. Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year to all of our families.

What a super performance of 'The Landlord's Cat!'

We thoroughly enjoyed the theatre performance of Robin Hood this afternoon. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Children have worked with great focus to paint a self portrait on a tile.

Children from year one have been busy making a setting for their writing focus.

Remembrance Day...

During out 'Outdoor Learning day' we went on a whole school weekly walk, made poppies using natural materials and planted daffodil bulbs. Hot chocolate was drunk as we chatted about all the fun we had had.

Making cheese with Mr Calver was enormous fun. We learned about the beautiful soil, beautiful grass, happy cows and bacteria that we need to make cheese before making our very own curds and whey. We used all our senses to explore ingredients before tasting the delicious Caerphilly and Cheddar.

We followed instructions to make bread. We also made cups of tea using pipettes and syringes.

We used Giuseppe Arcimboldo as an inspiration to make people we love. We gave reasons too and made a fabulous display in class.

Weren't we amazing! Just in case you missed us during the Harvest Festival...

We had a very exciting village stroll around Upton Noble today. We had a very heavy shower of rain, thunder and lots of animal encounters!

We shared songs, lit candles and brought our prayer pebbles to our welcome service in church today.

All children in Acorn worked together to act out 'Rosie's Walk' using masks they had made.

Children in Reception have been painting self portraits. Can you work out who is who?

Today we met our buddies and shared a story.
